It's hard to believe that it's been more than a year since I updated this blog, but the dates don't lie. Where has the time gone??
It's true to say my time and energies have been focused elsewhere for some while, but that's not to say I've turned my back on budget covers LPs entirely. In fact, there have been several interesting finds since my last post, way back in 2015, and it's my intention to feature some of them here, over the next few days.
First though, we should pay tribute to the Now! album series. For many years, Now! was wrongly thought of as being the most enduring album series of all time. Here's a snippet from the Guinness Book of Records 2015:
Guinness is some authority when it comes to records (in the sense of heaviest, longest, shortest etc), but the editors surely dropped a clanger when they ran the above, naming Now! as the longest-running series ever. It was up to volume 87 at that stage. But of course, readers of this blog know better, as the album below proves:
Airbrushed out of history? Apparently.
Anyhow, we're now in July 2016, and volume 94 of Now! has just rolled off the press. Fair play to them - they now rightly hold the crown, two editions ahead of Top of the Pops with no apparent sign of drying up. Pity Top of the Pops and the guys behind it didn't get the recognition they truly deserved in the preceding decades....
