I was delighted this week to receive an extremely rare LP on the Avenue label (thanks Declan). This is one of the very earliest soundalike albums released on the label, and copies are exceedingly hard to find. Check out the groovy front cover - quite unlike most LPs in this genre...
What a beaut! The LP dates to roughly June 1969, and contains songs originally recorded by the Stones, the Beatles, and John & Yoko. It is the earliest Avenue album in my collection, and certainly one of the most highly prized. (The songs, incidentally, were also released by Avenue on a pair of 7-inch EPs: AVE 76 and AVE 77.)
This is probably my last post of 2013, so I'd like to wish readers a Merry Christmas and a fab 2014.
