Top of the Poppers Sing & Play a Spanish cassette

In 1976, Pickwick started compiling Top of the Pops recordings into double albums, with various themes - 50 disco hits, 50 pop hits, 50 no.1 hits, and so on. One of them was called 50 Red Hot Black Music Hits, the contents of which are fairly easy to guess. To emphasise the 'red hot' tag, the album cover had flames on!

This release didn't go unnoticed in Spain. There, the local Olympo label opted to issue their own version, containing 49 of the 50 songs (according to listings I have seen, "Walk In The Night" was inexplicably left out). Interestingly, they issued the set as three individual LPs, titled Historia de la Musica Negra volumes 1, 2 and 3. And despite changing the title to something which translates, rather inaccurately, to The History of Black Music, they kept the red-hot flames - I wonder what Spanish buyers thought they were supposed to represent!?

Anyway, to my latest find: The three Spanish LPs also appeared in cassette editions. I have just collected a copy of the cassette volume 1 - see below. Nice to see the old "Sing & Play" tag still in use...
